How to Set up a Shop on Shopify in 7 Steps

Are you thinking about opening an online store? Shopify is one of the most popular eCommerce platforms, and it’s perfect for entrepreneurs who want to start their own businesses. This article will show you how to set up a Shopify store and start selling in seven easy steps.

How to Set up Your Shop on Shopify in 7 Steps

Step 1: Choose your Shopify plan

You have several options when it comes to pricing and features:

  • Basic Plan: $24 per month
  • Shopify Plan: $69 per month
  • Advanced Plan: $299 per month

When you’re starting, the Basic plan is the best option. It gives you everything you need to start selling online, including an online store, payment processing, and shipping options.

You can also add up to five products to your store. This plan also includes unlimited stock photos and a basic set of analytics tools.

Step 2: Set up your domain name

The next step is setting up your Shopify store on your domain name. This is important because it will show visitors that you are serious about selling products and building an online business.

You need to choose a name that’s easy for your audience to remember but also easy to spell and type.

Step3: Choose a Shopify theme.

Shopify offers many free themes that look professional and include special features like video embeds, social media icons, and coupons that drive more traffic to your store.

You can find themes here: https://themes.shopify.com. If you choose the Shopify and Advanced plans, you’ll enjoy many options for customizing your store and beautiful graphics and animations.

Step 4: Add products to your store.

Once you’ve chosen a theme, go back into the theme editor and add all the products you want to sell on the site — including variations of each item like colors, sizes, and styles (for example: “black shirt” vs. “blue shirt”), then save your changes.

Step 5: Customize your store

Customization is the key to turning your idea into a business on Shopify. Customize your storefront with professional templates, add new features, and change how your store looks and functions.

Set 6: Set up payments

Your Shopify storefront can be set up with several payment options, including PayPal, Google Checkout, Stripe, and Braintree. You can also accept credit cards directly through Stripe or PayPal. Or do a square shopify integration for easy payments.

Finally, launch your store!

Step 7 is to go live!

You can choose between two different hosting options: the free Shopify Classic plan or the more robust Shopify Plus plan.

If you’re just getting started, the free plan will suffice, but if you’re planning on scaling your business in the future, upgrade to Shopify Plus and enjoy extra features like custom URLs, custom domains, and additional security features such as 2-factor authentication.
